With over 15 years of experience and a BA (Hons) degree at Edinburgh Napier University in popular music, Nairn is a professional session drummer and drum teacher based in the central belt (Edinburgh/Glasgow) of Scotland.

It was his desire to have a career in music that led him to leave his hometown of Aberdeen and move to Edinburgh where he briefly performed drums for one of Scotland's biggest indie bands, Vistas before co-forming Edinburgh band, swim school in 2018.

For 2 years Nairn played drums in swim school and during this time he performed at major music festivals such as TRNSMT and Belladrum and at the and at the end of 2019 they toured around the UK supporting The XCERTS. He also performed various live sessions for the BBC on both TV and radio. One of Nairn's final gigs in swim school was their sold out debut headline show in Edinburgh and this closed the chapter to start a new adventure.

Since September 2021 Nairn has been performing with Scottish singer songwriter Callum Beattie and has performed sold out shows at the OVO Hydro, Murrayfield Stadium, Ibrox Stadium, Usher Hall, TRNSMT Festival, London Roundhouse, Montreal Jazz Festival in Switzerland and has supported McFly, Sophie Ellis Bextor, Busted, Amy Macdonald and Texas.

In April 2022, Nairn recorded drums on Callum's highly anticipated second album, VANDALS which was released on the 24th of February 2023. The album received a No.1 in Scotland and was awarded No.1 in the iTunes Album Chart, No.5 in the Official UK Album Downloads Chart, No.6 in the Official Physical Albums Chart and No.22 in the Official UK Album Charts. In December 2023 he performed on Callum's biggest tour to date around Scotland at the Queens Hall, Music Hall and 3 nights at Glasgow Barrowlands.

In addition to playing for Callum Beattie, Nairn is also playing with a promising alt-pop artist based in London called Citizen Papes. His debut single 'For You' was released in March 2024 and has already reached a global audience on Spotify having been featured on playlists such as New Music Friday and New Pop UK. All of Citizen Papes' releases in 2024 have received plays by Mollie King on BBC Radio 1 and 'For You' was featured as Track of the Week on BBC Introducing.
